The Easiest Herbs to Grow at Home (Even If You Have a Small Space)

Herbs are the fastest way to feel successful as a home gardener. Many grow well in small pots, bounce back quickly after harvesting, and make everyday meals taste better.

Basil
Loves warmth and sun. Pinch the top leaves often to encourage bushy growth. Great for containers.

Mint (Best in its own pot)
Mint spreads aggressively. Keep it isolated in a pot, give it partial sun, and harvest often.

Parsley
More tolerant of cooler weather. It grows slowly but steadily and does well in medium-sized containers.

Chives
Hardy and low-maintenance. Trim from the outside and let the center keep growing.

Rosemary (Sun-lover)
Prefers drier soil and strong light. Avoid overwatering—let the soil dry slightly between waterings.

Thyme
Compact and drought-tolerant. Great for sunny windowsills and small planters.

Set herbs near your kitchen if possible. The closer they are, the more you’ll use them—and the more often you’ll harvest, which helps them grow.
